When you live in Amsterdam you have to accept that there are mice, and there’s no much that you can do, except on having everything very well packed and maybe get a cat.
I’ve been very lucky so far and hadn’t seen a mouse in this 2 years I’ve been living here, but things changed a few days ago… My friend Karmele, from Spain, sent me this box full with products from your home that you can not easily find in a foreign country, you know what I mean… And among all these wonderful things there was a package of biscuits. I was saving these biscuits for a special moment, maybe one of those autumn rainy afternoons… but apparently someone else had the same idea… Look what I found when I opened the drawer!
En Amsterdam es así y cuanto antes lo asumas mejor para tí. Hay ratones. Hay ratones en tu casa y en la casa de al lado y en la de abajo, y esa es una de las razones por las que casi todos tienen gatos.
Yo hasta ahora había tenido la suerte de no encontrar ninguno, pero el otro día me pasó una cosa… Mi amiga
Karmele me envió un paquete desde España con esas cosas típicas que son difíciles de encontrar aquí. Unos Sugus, Espidifen, y un paquete de galletas Chiquilín. Me estaba reservando las galletas Chiquilín para esa típica tarde otoñal de frío que te quedas en casa viendo alguna peli y merendando sin parar. Pues bien, parece que no era la única que tenía esa idea, mirad lo que me encontré al abrir el cajón!!
And that’s how I met Víctor, my new roommate. I didn’t know what to do at first, but now I’m ok with this situation. I respect him and he respects me, and sometimes we even share our biscuits.
Y así es como conocí a Víctor, mi nuevo compañero de piso. Al principio no estaba muy segura de cómo tomármelo, la verdad… pero poco a poco nos hemos acostumbrado el uno al otro. Yo no le molesto a él y él no me molesta a mi y, a veces, compartimos las galletas.
It’s been raining for several days now. Sometimes I find Víctor looking through the window, very dreamy. I don’t know if he likes rain or if he’s waiting for the moment to go out.
Hace ya varios días que llueve. A veces me encuentro a Víctor mirando por la ventana, en plan soñador. No se si es que le gusta la lluvia o tiene ganas de salir a la calle.
Things with Víctor are getting better. The other day I found some small tiny boxes on the floor, next to the corner where I use to see Víctor. They were biscuit pieces wrapped like presents, for me, because it was my birthday a couple of days ago. Thank you Víctor!
Las cosas con Víctor van cada vez mejor. El otro día me encontré unas cajitas en el suelo, en la esquina donde siempre lo suelo ver. Eran trozos de galleta envueltos, para mi, porque el otro día fue mi cumpleaños. Gracias Víctor!
